Mark Your Calendar for State League Convention: May 20-21, 1989Keeping Democracy a Process for the People: An Impossible Dream? Join with Leaguers from around our state to discuss and vote on important matters concerning your state League and focus attention on the critical question: Keeping Democracy a Process for the People: An Impossible Dream? This year's convention theme reflects the efforts being taken by the LWV/US to refocus its activities to maintain and build upon the niche the League has established over 69 years of history. LWV/US President Nancy Neuman recently wrote. "We are convinced that if we lose this opportunity, it will be someone else's to take, because the public clearly perceives the need to restore integrity to political campaigning . . . to restore public confidence in the effectiveness of voting and in the leaders they elect." A convention committee is at work putting together all the details for logistics, speakers, panel discussions, etc. Information will be forthcoming and registration forms will included in the next Leo Hana (to be mailed in early May).
