Council 88The Hawai'i LWV State Board is pleased to announce that Council 88 will take place on May 21 with a kickoff potluck dinner on May 20. Each local League sends its President and a delegate. All State Board members as well as a delegate from Ed Fund will attend. Other LWV members are welcome as observers - and we encourage you to come. The Friday (May 20) potluck will be at 6 p.m. in the recreation room of Naniwa Gardens, 6750 Hawaii Kai Drive, Honolulu. We hope there will be a good turnout for what will be a fun evening. Come ready to make new friends, renew old friendships, and have a good time. The Saturday (May 21) sessions will also take place in the recreation room of Naniwa Gardens. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the first business session starting at 9:30. The morning agenda will include the treasurer's report and budget presentation, discussion, and adoption. There will be a legislative wrap-up for the 1988 session, the President's report on where the Board has been and where it plans to go, and time for directions to the Board for the upcoming year. Lunch will be catered by Stromboli's - an award-winning restaurant in Hawai'i Kai. At lunch we will brainstorm on ideas for improving access to government, especially the legislature. The afternoon business session will include: updates of local League activities; review of LWV/Hawaii program; update on the Vacancy Study, and any other business. This will be followed by a workshop tentatively titled "From Perceived Community Problem to League Position: How Do We Get from One to the Other?" All this for just $28 - which includes lunch and workbook. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - YES, I'M COMING . . . TO COUNCIL 88
