Volunteers GaloreIf you missed the Carpenters' Union vote count on June 24th, you were deprived of delicious plate lunches (dinner, too), emptying over 7000 envelopes, tallying, in bundles of 50, over 3500 long ballots, and trying to ignore a lot of heavy breathing over your shoulders. GLENDORA ALDER even called it a "challenge": "You have to figure out the most efficient way to get the greatest number of envelopes emptied with the least amount-of strain in the shortest time." 34 Leaguers, spouses and friends volunteered throughout the long day - 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. - and earned $798. CLAIRE GREGORCYK and HELEN GRIFFIN enjoyed coordinating so much they're refusing to do any other League jobs. Both agreed, though, that Leaguers have to brush up on their alphabets. Claire, who is our retiring Treasurer, pointed out some fascinating figures: Our Nat'l PMP is now $11; our pledge to State is $L0.80 per member; our dues are $20. Vote counts and volunteers to work them are obviously essential! Thank you, Claire, Helen, and all you great volunteers!
