League of Women Voters of Honolulu Proposed Local Program for 1954-1955 Proposed Local Program for 1954-1955 The Board recommends to you the following program: The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan organization, promotes political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. The League carries out this purpose through its Program and Voters Service. Voters Service is a year round activity which provides non-partisan factual information on political processes, on candidates and on issues in the interest of responsible and responsive government. CURRENT AGENDA Continued study of the services under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff and support of such measures as will improve them. Contingent item: If member resources permit, a continuation of the study of the budgetary procedures and finance structure of the City and County and promotion of such measures as will effect efficiency. CONTINUING RESPONSIBILITIES These are the items to which the League has given sustained attention in the past: Achieving a now Charter for County government. Achieving adequate public park and recreational facilities for the City and County of Honolulu.
