Watergate Primarily as a reaction to the disclosures of potential misuse of campaign funds that have come to light in the Watergate hearing! National Council voted for further study and consensus on campaign financing, under the representative government program item. Realizing that Congress may move very quickly the deadline for reporting this consensus will be Thanksgiving. This will require local leagues to concentrate and do a conscientious job of preparing for the two units on campaign financing in the Fall--one informational, one consensus, We have already had some background and will be refreshing ourselves through the summer and fall local Voters. Also the June-July national Voter will include background. Please dig out the National Facts and Issues on Campaign Financing for reference, The September national Voter will include the consensus questions and be almost entirely devoted to this topic.
