United Nations Week - Oct. 18-24

Mrs. Betsy Mosher of the National Resource Committee which has been cooperating with the American Association for the U.N. (A.A.U.N.) on U. N. Week activities has arranged for the following Radio and T.V. programs:

October 18, 9:00-9:26 P.M. KULA will present an excellent new recording by the League of Women Voters, "Points of View-The United Nations." The panel consists of Mrs. John Y. Lee (Pres. L.W.V.), Senator Cooper (R.Ky.), Senator Sparkman (D.Ala.), and Mr. James Reston, diplomatic correspondent of the New York Times.

Both Senators have represented the U.S. at sessions of the U.N. General Assembly and for several years Mr. Reston has interpreted U.S. and U.N. decisions and debates.

October 18, 9:24-9:30 P.M. KGMB presents Dr. Shinier in his regular Sunday evening World Brotherhood program. At this time Dr. Shinier will interview Rev. Harold Jou of the Board of Directors of the American Association for the U.N. in Honolulu. Among the questions to be discussed will be, "The U.N. is an intergovernmental organization. What can an individual citizen do to support the U.N.?" You will notice the close timing of these LEAGUE PERIOD programs on the two radio stations. Plan to hear them both, if possible.

October 25, 9:15 A.M. KGU will feature U.N. week in "Religion in the News". This "Program is presented by Rev. Isler, Pres. of the Honolulu Council of Churches.

Also, on October 25, 5:00-5:30 P.M. KGMB presents over T.V. Rev. Isler on his regular program, "Religious roundtable He plans to have a brief interview on the U.N.

On October 12, Mrs. Mosher announced our future LEAGUE RECORD programs over KULA and discussed United Nations week with the interviewer, Gordon Burke.

Dr. John Stalker will speak for a half hour Thursday evening, October 22, at the Chemistry Building at the University of Hawaii on the U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL and GENERAL ASSEMBLY. He will be followed by Mr. Robert Stauffer for a half hours 'discussion on the general significance of the specialized agencies.

Tune in on as many of the above programs as you can and try to attend the United Nations week meeting of A.A.U.N.
