Winelight A Financial and Social Success
A gay, appreciative crowd of 122 members and guest comfortably filled the beautiful courtyard of La Pietra to enjoy the fine wine and cheese and the live classical guitar music of two University of Hawaii music students at the League fundraiser and birthday celebration on February 13. The beautiful weather ordered especially for this event conspired with the European ambience of La Pietra, the seductive music, the lovely surroundings and the breathtaking view to make this a most pleasurable afternoon. Add to this a prelude---flute music by Shamala Patil and her two friends.
A list of the wines being served was presented to each participant with room for notes, and the people from The Still were there to serve the wine and to answer any questions.
This fundraiser met its goal of earning $2,000 for League. Included in the figures used to calculate our net profit was $137.00 grossed from the sale of eight fruit baskets which included tablecloths and cheese and were arranged by Claudia Patil, Melvia Kawashima and Sue Thorndike.
OUR MAHALO to the hardworking commit-tee who planned and made the arrangements for this financially and socially successful afternoon; Melvia Kawashima, Chr., Claudia Patil, Jean Ko and Sue Thorndike.
The committee, in turn, wishes to express its SPECIAL MAHALOS to Carol Whitesell and Marian Heidel for their help and to Bea Bennett for her beautiful floral arrangements.
