Voters Service Committee

The Voters Service Committee has just completed a two-year observation program of the Board of supervisors meetings at City Hall. On Monday, January 3, 1955 the 1953-54 Mayor and Board met for the last time. The same day the new Mayor and Board were sworn in, and five members of the League were present including our President.

The Mayor and new Board have many adjustments to make before our City government runs smoothly. The League can help by attending the meetings and showing an interest. One supervisor expressed a wish that a good cross section of our citizens attend these meetings, (quoting) "Not one meeting, but many," in order to know the problems the supervisors meet and must solve. (The Voters Service Committee have proven their non-partisan interest and are accepted.)

Leaguers who do not work during the day and who can budget their time, please set aside an afternoon a month for observation. Each Tuesday afternoon the Board meets with the Mayor at 2:00 o'clock. Each Friday afternoon the two committees meet with their chairmen. The Finance Committee at 1:00 o'clock and the Public Works at 2:30 P.M.

Please call Mrs. Smith, 97193 so she can arrange to have a Voters Service member go with you. Watch your Bulletin for Voters Service Views.

Mrs. Smith will be glad to arrange to have you join Voters Service members if you will call her at 97193. Watch your Bulletin for Voters Service Views.
