"Why Don't You Belong to it?"President Eisenhower is an admirer of the League of Women Voters, according to an anecdote told by Mrs. Dreyfous. She said on one occasion she was with the Eisenhowers and the President asked her opinion of a current problem. After she had given it, he inquired how she happened to be so informed, and she told him that it was partly her activity in the LWV. "Wherever I go, when I talk with a well informed, objective woman she turns out to be a member of that group," he said. Then turning to his wife he asked, "Why don't you belong to it?" "If we ever stayed in one place long enough, perhaps I would," was her reply.
