Rent Control

Rent Control

Rent control was to have ended June 30, 1954. On Tuesday, May 4, the Board of Supervisors voted 5 to 2 to extend rent control until August 31, 1954 to give time for a $10,000 survey to determine whether further control is necessary. Supervisors voting for appropriation and for the extension of controls were: Apoliana and Asing (Republicans) and Kauhane, Kido, and Takabuki (Democrats). Supervisors Beamer and Teves (Republicans) voted against both proposals. Mr. Teves said that he felt there was no further need for control and that the money could better be spent for a city
