Report on the League from NationalLWVUS will participate as an executive committee member in the ad hoc Coalition for Congressional Reform. It will serve as a member of a Consumer Advisory Council, a group which serves in an unofficial capacity as advisor to the Secretary on ways HUD can become more responsive to consumer interests. The League's commitment to finding alternatives to the present welfare system tontines. The impact of welfare action is bound to be valuable for immediate and long-range changes in public attitudes and programs. Passage of the 1972 Omnibus Housing Act is lot at all certain. The House version contains some detrimental provisions that could limit the expansion of low and moderate income housing in suburban areas and additional provision that would limit the rights of public housing tenants. LWVUS continues fighting hard against anti-)using moves in Congress. Citizen Education: When the big push is over in November, how will you measure your Voter Service impact in the community? - (This is an area for our considered attention locally. Be prepared to lend your thoughts and guidance to Claudia and the Voter Service committee soon.)
