State Study

As you all know, your Board of the Honolulu League provided our study of State Election Laws three separate dates on their Fall Calendar. We were SURE this would provide us with a good consensus and plenty of things to go out and work on here in Hawaii.

As you also should know, your State Study Committee worked hard this past Summer (and,. we might add, learned the hard way all the pitfalls of producing a pamphlet). The result of this work was, we thought, a fund of information for answering questions; and a good 'bible' for all members on Election Laws.

Frankly, we were disappointed - first at the poor turnout at the meetings, and second at the great number of your Honolulu League members who were not even interested enough, to 'buy' a Study Guide. You might say, "Well, isn't it just too bad. Their feelings were hurt."

Our reply to that would be, "It isn't just our feelings, but worse than that, it is our PURSE."

We sincerely feel more of you should be concerned about our poor count in the nation when it comes to Registered Voters; concerned enough to get our publication and find out what is wrong and what we can do about it.

How about parting with 50¢ (less than our cost, we assure you) and getting an Election Laws Study Guide at your next Unit meeting. If you can't get to it, give Nan Lowers a call at 33-360: She will be glad to send you one.

-Your State Study Committee
