The League of Women Voters urges your support for S.B. 1550 to move the date of the primary election from the second to the last Saturday in September to the second Saturday in August of every even numbered year. We see this as a good-sense action to take.

We feel that holding the primary election at an earlier date will help enhance the process by allowing more time to settle any disputes arising from the primary, and to sufficiently prepare for the general election. This will help avoid or at least minimize errors, for example, in printing and distributing ballots. And that can increase voter confidence in the voting process, with the potential for increased voter participation.

We urge passage of S.B. 1550. Thank you for the opportunity to testify on this bill.
