Teamsters Election Sets League Record

An impressive job was accomplished by members and friends of the League at the recent Teamsters vote count. The planned for 1-hour effort was reduced to a record 4½ hours (including a lunch break).

A range of 72 years was represented. A teenage future member and a charter member of the League of Women Voters of Honolulu turned up – and both proved to be efficient talliers who knew how to follow direction.

Many thanks to all the "old-timers" who again answered our urgent calls and volunteered. It's good to know we can always depend on you.

A pleasant surprise was the number of new members who participated in the event. They all proved to be quick learners and took to the process like ducks to water. With members such as these, we are confident that vote counts will continue to be apart of our services to the community.

Now, what we need is a show of interest in learning to coordinate these projects. We will assist anyone who is willing. Please call the office at 531-7448 or 537-6267 and ask for Arlene Kim Ellis, Elections Coordinator.
