TIME FOR ACTION on the Trade Reform Act (HR 6767) arrived Oct. 5. This bill was reported out of the House Ways and Means Committee and was on its way to the floor for a vote on the 19th of Oct. (Refer to the June -July National Voter and the Sept. Aloha Voter issues for background on the trade bill and Trouble with Trade.) The LWVH sent a telegram to Rep. Spark Matsunaga, a member of the Rules Committee, urging him to grant closed rule with up-down vote on Titles IV-V of the bill. Air Special Delivery letters were sent to Rep. Mink and Matsunaga urging them to vote for this trade bill as reported by the Ways and Means Committee. The LWVH contacted the liberal trade community in Honolulu urging them to join the League in this effort.
