League CelebratesFebruary 14-16, 1920, the League of Women Voters was founded in Chicago. Know Your Government studies were started and members began work on 69 items in the program adopted. Early programs included those relative to the welfare of mothers and infants, equal compensation for women, and support for a child labor amendment. Seventy-five years later, health care, motor voter legislation, environmental issues, and more have been added to those first issues. There are issues for every male and female member of the league to work on. Join your local and state leagues in moving these important issues forward in the next decade.
