State Council: Modern Woman - Here I Am! Who Am I? Legislative Log Something New for LWV of Hawaii Leaguers in the Community |
Modern Woman - Here I Am! Who Am I?"She has everybody's attention. The moment for self-definition has come and it is not as easy as it once appeared. To some extent - probably to a surprising extent - her self-definition will be accepted. But what will it be?" (From "Disenchanted 'new women'" by Melvin Maddocks, Christian Science Monitor Service) "We need to he accepted for ourselves and not as a 'collection of functions.' We need to feel the impact of our own individuality. We want personally to experience a proof of contact with life - a sense of having an effect. We need more than our husband's position and our children's accomplishments. Our own identity has been obscured by the multiplicity of roles to which we have adapted and adjusted our lives. We need a single-minded purpose of our very own." (From The Effective Management of Volunteer Programs by Marlene Wilson) Join the League women at State Council to explore personal futures and the impact of our personal goals on the future of the League of Women Voters.
