Ethics Legislation ETHICS LEGISLATION during this session of the Legislature will probably be the prime work of the League. Members are hereby alerted to be ready for any Calls to Action that will be necessary. Legislation that was passed in the last session was vetoed by the governor. In November the State Ethics Commission held a two day workshop. League was represented by our Legislative Observer, Alice Scott. The participants included ethic commissioners from all the counties and representatives of the community interested in Ethics in Government. The purpose of the conference was to draft new legislation to strengthen the existing State Ethics Code. The discussions became so involved that there was insufficient time to achieve this objective during the workshop. Consequently the Citizens' Committee for Ethics in Government was reactivated. They held their first meeting in December to begin drafting proposed legislation. Alice Scott will represent League on this Committee.
