Vote CountLeague of Women Voters - Honolulu held an initial meeting with representatives of the Housing and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii to implement the Election Procedure and Standards mandated by HUD, for the election of officers to resident councils of over 100 housing projects throughout the State of Hawaii. League was requested and agreed to coordinate the elections and conduct the mail-out and tally of ballot returns. It is anticipated that the process will cover over 6 months after the meetings with each project's resident council has been held and election procedures, including qualifications to run for office, frequency of elections, procedures for recall and term limits have been adopted. The tentative time-line is from September 1, 2000 to March 31, 2001. Arlene Kim Ellis |
