An Agenda for the Nation on Violence Against WomenThe National Advisory Council on Violence Against Women has taken on the task of imagining a world 25 years from now in which violence against women does not happen - and to outline what it will take to get us there. From the perspective of 25 years ago, the status of issues of violence against women would have been unimaginable. Today vital services have saved the lives of many women, and helped others achieve lives of safety, dignity and fulfillment. But the violence continues. As we approach the millennium, the violence against women community is engaged with Congress in crafting and passing a second Violence Against Women Act. An agenda for the Nation on Violence Against Women is a call to action and a guide to specific strategies to end violence against women. The Council has three main areas of interest with the council members divided into three task forces:
