Silver Legislature at the State Capitol BuildingNOVEMBER 16 & 17, 1992For the first time Oahu will have a Silver Legislature, a mock legislature for senior citizens, held on November 16 and 17 at the Legislative chambers and conference rooms at the State Office Tower. Participants will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to go through the legislative process by enacting roles as House members, Senators, Committee Chairs, clerks and lobbyists. Vice-President Jean Aoki and President Arlene Ellis will be serving as legislators and committee chairs of this premier community event. Members of the League will be presenting several bills covering: 1) Initiative, Referendum and Recall, 2) Use of initiative on land use issues at the county level, 3) Quorum and roll call votes for committee meetings, 4) Voting requirements on constitutional amendments, 5) Purging of voter rolls, and 6) Term limits for legislators (per request).
