"Day for Women"Over 300 women attended an all-day session on Saturday, October 24 sponsored by the University of Hawaii at Leeward Community College to explore new ideas and issues affecting today's women. The keynote speaker was Dorothy Mitchell, Director of Career Centers at Long Beach City College and teacher-consultant with the University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Continuing Education and Community Services. Among the 25 different seminars and workshops offered, throughout the day, was the League of Women Voters presented by President Arlene Ellis. A brief history of League was followed by a discussion of how women can get involved in the political process and how this involvement can make a difference in the quality of island life.
