Initiative League, together with representatives of 10 community organizations, met with Robert Alm, Director of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and Kathleen Stanley, Administrative Assistant to the Governor, to discuss the Governor's support of Initiative. The discussion was two-fold: 1) The urgency of enacting legislation specifying the right of Counties to use initiative in land use matters as already exists in the County charters, and, 2) statewide initiative in Hawaii. A public hearing with Senator Russell Blair on initiative for land use will be held on Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the State Capitol, Rm. 214.
