(From the Evening Sun, Baltimore, Maryland, August 29, 1980) Debates '88 The 1988 Mayoral debates will be held on August 31, at 7:00 p.m. on Channel 9. The hour long debates will feature questions from the four panelists with follow-up questions. Participants in the debate will be the following Democratic candidates for Mayor: Marilyn Bornhorst Randall Iwase Patsy Mink Dennis O'Connor Moderator will be Bob Jones, well known newsman along with panelists Stacey Sakamoto, Channel 9, Peter Wagner, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, and Don Rockwell, KHVH. Major sponsor of the debates is Hyatt Regency/Waikiki. Other contributors are: Hawaiian Electric Industries; Amfac, Inc.; Theo Davies; Castle & Cooke; Oceanic Cablevision; PRI, Pioneer Savings & Loan Bank; Waikiki Marina Hotel; Bank of Hawaii; Foodland; Sears, Roebuck & Co; Worrall-McCarter, Inc., and Salon-Salon. The following League members made up the Debate Committee: Arlene Ellis, Jerry Hess, Karen Ahn and Dorothy Bremner. Timekeepers for the debate will be Anne Lee and Evelyn Bender. The General Election Mayoral Debate will be held the week of October 3 (exact date and time not set yet) while the First Congressional General Election Debate will be held the week of October 10 (exact date and time not set yet).
