Speak Out, Hawaii"Speak Out, Hawaii" under the capable leadership of Lois Galpert is now ready for taping in preparation for the August 17 airing on Channel 5. This voter service project began in 1986 as a radio presentation and evolved into a television event. "Speak out, Hawaii" is designed to whet the public's interest in the issues of concern in the upcoming elections. Community leaders have been invited to give their views on matters they consider important that need to be addressed by candidates for office. KFVE Channel 5 offered to air these 2 minute spots daily from August 17 through November 8 as a public service at no cost to the League. We are very appreciative of their cooperation and especially of the enthusiasm and aloha of Krash Kealoha, the program director. Committee members who worked hard and long to make this effort a success are: Jean Aoki, James Koshi, Maryrose McClelland, Joanna Nakata, Isabel Tahala, Betty and Clarence Wightman and Marian Wilkins. Publicity will be under the direction of Frances Leilani. Be sure to turn to Channel 5 beginning August 17 and watch these spots that will be aired intermittently throughout each day.
