Bicentennial CompetitionThe National Bicentennial Competition on the Constitution and Bill of Rights, an educational program developed and administered by the Center for Civic Education of Los Angeles and co-sponsored by the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution, was instituted under the auspices of the Board of Education. Mock Congressional Hearings were held in several Oahu, Maui and Kauai High Schools at which attorneys and members of the League of Women Voters presided as judges. Leaguers participating as judges included Marion Saunders, Rhoda Miller, Margaret Eldridge, Betty Rogers, Jean Aoki and Arlene Ellis. The Hawaii State Trials were held at the Pacific Beach Hotel on March 5 with Radford High School emerging the winner and Maui's Baldwin High School as runner up. Congratulations!
