Education ConsensusBreakfast in the gazebo at the Pagoda floating restaurant; preceded the general membership meeting on May 16 when 20 Leaguers discussed the State League's education committee's consensus question "Should the League of Women Voters of Hawaii support the principle of CHOICE for students, teachers, parents, and staff as appropriate and essential for improving performance and participation in Secondary school functioning and programming?" A spirited discussion followed co-chair Marion Sounder's introduction of the study that resulted, one and a half hours later, in a general concurrence with the question. The members suggested that the principle of choice should not be limited to the secondary school, but be expanded to include first through twelfth grades.
