Leaguers Hold Key Posts

Several members of the League have been appointed to key positions in the 14th session of the Legislature and will have an opportunity in shaping its destiny.

Senator Bert Kobayashi, a Leaguer since 1975 has been named Chair of the Health Committee, which oversees the embattled Department of Health. Senator Mary Jane McMurdo, who joined League in 1982, heads the Human Resources Committee. Another Leaguer since 1963, Senator Mary George is a member of several important committees including Judiciary and Transportation.

Across the aisle, so-to-speak, Tom Okamura, Leaguer since 1985, has been designated Majority Leader of the House . Sam Lee (1984) serving his first term in the House, will serve as Vice Chair of the Education Committee. Member Barbara Marumoto (1979) will become Assistant House Leader.

Marilyn Bornhorst, League member since 1967, heads the City Council's Inter-Governmental Relations Committee.
