State Land Use Commission: Nuisance or Necessity? Here is one paragraph from Astrid Monson's excellent article in the Sunday Advertiser Focus section on November 23rd. Be sure to read the rest of the article. "The case for a state land use agency, then, is not that the counties could not control their own land use but that it is very hard for them actually to do so in the face of local pressures. An appointed State Land Use Commission of citizens, representing not only land and building interests but a broad range of community consumer, labor, university and environmental groups, is more likely to be able to balance private with public concerns."
