Action for EducationCitizens, legislators, Board of Education members, students and League members joined to explore choices in education at the recently held conference. Dr. Mary Anne Raywid, director of the Hofstra University Center for the Study of Alternatives was the main resource person. Participants gathered in small discussion groups to provide thinking on communicative arts, global approach to student learning styles, technology impacting education, role of the administrator, choice in curriculum, choice in intermediate school, career/ vocational education and the role of teacher education. The state League sponsored this conference as part of its two-year study on alternatives in education. Input from conferees will be used as a focus for committee members as they continue study in this area. Contact Marion Saunders or Libby Oshiyama if you would like to join this timely study group.
