Topic: SHOULD HAWAII ELECTION LAWS BE CHANGED?

The Election Law Study Committee finds that parts of Hawaii's election laws are not in tune with national trends and do not conform to LWVUS's position on election laws. These include: UNRESTRICTED ABSENTEE BALLOTING REGISTRATION BY MAIL VOTING BY MAIL

What action should we take? You should be receiving by mail soon a summary of the issues which will give some background for our discussion and consensus. Some other materials will be distributed at the meeting. Please bring the summary to the meeting.

We hope to get someone from both the Lieutenant Governor's office and the City Clerk's staff to attend the meeting to answer questions about the present system, problems foreseen in making the changes, and to assist us in our deliberations.
