Action for Education: A New Era in HawaiiNovember 14-15, 1986 State Capitol COME TO A CONFERENCE that will explore innovative ways to bring new vigor and refreshment to Hawaii's public schools. It will focus on how alternatives (choices) can motivate students and teachers to significantly higher levels of performance. The Conference will be an opportunity to bring to the fore the creativity and energy of our teacher corps and student potential. DR. MARY ANNE RAYWID, Director of the Center for the Study of Alternatives at HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY in New York will come to direct discussion on how CHOICES have worked across the nation, and what Hawaii can learn from such trailblazers. The recent national Governor's Conference gave special emphasis to choices --they offer promise of enriching public education as nothing else has done! GROUP DISCUSSIONS will explore teaching and learning styles, curriculum choices, communicative arts, choices for intermediate schools, vocational education, what's ahead in teacher education, and choices in technology to face the future. We believe our exploration of the potential of alternatives will generate energy and motivation to continue action that comes from the Conference! COME! MORE INFORMATION can be obtained by calling Libby Oshiyama 947-1058 or Marion Saunders 988-2635. The League office is open daily from 9:00 to 4:00 at 531-7448. REMEMBER - STATE CONFERENCE ACTION FOR EDUCATION: A NEW ERA IN HAWAII. NOVEMBER 14-15. Call League office for more details.
