November General MeetingFresh from the battle over the Nukolii Development on Kauai, come ED JAFFE, attorney representing the Nukolii developer, Hasegawa Komuten, and BERT LYON, Kauai accountant, League member and active member of the Committee to Save Nukolii, joined by MICHAEL LIU, Republican Representative from the 34th district and member of the House Judiciary Committee, and a fourth panelist from the Democratic Party, with ANNE LEE, State League president and assistant professor of political science at West Oahu College to discuss two timely questions:
DATE: Saturday, November 16 TIME: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. PLACE: Waikiki-Kapahulu Library 400 Kapahulu Avenue Marian Wilkins, coordinator for League study of election laws, promises a stimulating morning discussion of topics as exciting as the recent recall election. She and her committee have recruited a panel of individuals who have been intimately involved in the controversial Nukolii election on Kauai and in the recent recall election here. If you recall the Nukolii situation, there was public concern over the use of private funds (Hasegawa Komuten's) to pay for the special referendum election on Kauai. Absentee balloting is on the increase in Hawaii and is not restricted to people who will be absent from our state on election day. How does this affect our elections and the campaign strategies of those running for office? Bring your questions to this meeting, AND YOUR FRIENDS. They'll be happy you did.
