![]() President's MessageWith this issue I bid mahalo to Nan Luter and Marilyn Bowman who leave the Board, and I say aloha to Sarah Allday, Kathy Albu and Yvonne Kearns who will join the Board at the member's bidding. These Leaguers are just a few of the member-volunteers who make such valuable contributions to the life of the League of Women Voters From study and action to voter service; from administration telephone callers; from vote counting to staffing the office -- and countless other tasks -- we rely on volunteers. By my rough count of members, 42% have actively participated during this last administrative year! That is a high percentage. We should be proud. To quote from the Cleveland, Ohio League, "... organizations need to use volunteers creatively... League needs to structure itself to use people's time during their lunch breaks, brief periods in the evenings, and encourage experienced leaders who feel they have given their time to pair up with professional and skilled newcomers... The eighties will see major evolutionary steps in volunteerism. It is the organization that can set realistic expectations on time commitment and restructure accordingly that will succeed." We are trying to do just that. If you have suggestions, or if you have specific time/skills that we have not tapped, DO LET US HEAR FROM Mahalo,
