In Memoriam: Alice ScottWe mourn the death of Alice Scott, long-time member who served League and her community in so many capacities. Alice brightened up every League meeting she attended with her keen wit and trenchant comments on political events of the day. She led our City Charter committee and, most recently, served on our reapportionment committee. As an outgrowth of her League work and career service as director of the public health nursing branch of the state Department of Health, Alice was chosen by the Governor to serve on the state Government Reorganization Commission. Alice began her career in Hawaii as a public health nurse on the Big Island, traveling on a mule in order to reach her patients. We can picture her then, urging her mount on to her next destination, just as her spirit now urges us on to our League work. To carry on this work, we've started a memorial fund in Alice Scott's memory.
