Concurrence on Reproductive ChoicesIn November, our League will be asked to concur or not concur on the following position:
This position was reached by the Massachusetts and the New Jersey leagues after a thorough study. At National Convention, the delegate body voted to ask for a national concurrence on this position. As it was explained at the convention, League is not asking for a moral decision on abortion. We are being asked to consider reproductive choices as citizens' rights. "Individuals and groups, including organized religions, hold different views of the morality and permissibility of birth control and abortion. The development of a reasonable public policy on reproductive choice issues must be based on:
the current status of such policy, and the implications of any proposed changes." (FACTS AND ISSUES, July 1982, "Public Policy on Reproductive Choices.") Honolulu league will receive information on this prior to the concurrence in November.
