![]() Depository of Good ThingsThe International SceneThe Main Branch of the Honolulu Public Library is a depository library of the Federal Government, one of the favored libraries to which the Government will air-express new information on the Federal budgets. I have examined the four volumes of President Reagan's proposed 1983 budget and have found them to be extraordinarily well organized into "proposed changes", "rationale" and "effects" with prose explanations. If you're into that sort of thing, they are actually quite readable. Imagine getting the Duarte budget in El Salvador to look over within a couple of days after it has been released by the government: I urge you to take advantage of the opportunity to find out what it's all about from the source. Not knowing this was available to me in the Federal Document section at the main library, I had visited my Congressman's office, where I sat in luxurious and cool silence reading the "big budget books". The following budget figures, released in February, 1982, might interest you: ("A" represents the already authorized budget and "0" represents Reagan Administration's proposed outlays.)
