We rarely have a chance to congratulate a member for international recognition of achievement. HUGO KORTSCHAK was one of 3 scientists selected for the J. Arthur Rank Prize in Nutrition this year. He and wife KATE recently returned from England where the award was presented during an international symposium on "Food, Nutrition & Climate." There was a fine article in the Star-Bulletin. Congratulations, HUGO, we're especially proud you're a League member! We're also proud of our members' involvement in community affairs -- time consuming and unsung, but very important in our kind of society. CAROL WHITESELL was recently elected Vice Chair of the State Land Use Commission. PAT SHUTT has been asked to be on a blue ribbon cmte on Management of Volunteers in Non-profit Organizations. This is being sponsored by the Jr. League, Aloha United Way, and Health and Community Services Council. ARLENE WOO was just appointed to the Honolulu County Cmte on the Status of Women. BETTYE HARRIShas been appointed to serve on the Mayor's Tax Appeal Board. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!
