By-Law Changes

The Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters of Honolulu proposes the following changes in the by-laws. These changes are proposed to make our local League By-laws conform with the by-laws of the National League.

ARTICLE II, Section 1.

To read:

The purpose of the League of Women Voters of Honolulu shall be to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government and to act on selected governmental issues.

ARTICLE IX, Section 3.

Delete all of Section 3, renumber Sections 4 and 5 to logical sequence.

Section 1. Authorization

Section 2. Program

(Section 3. Current Agenda and Continuing Responsibilities. These categories are defined as follows:

  1. The Current Agenda shall consist of those local governmental issues as the membership shall choose for sustained attention and concerted action.

  2. The Continuing Responsibilities shall consist of positions on local governmental issues to which the League of Women Voters of Honolulu has given sustained attention and on which it may continue to act.)

(Section 5.) Section 4. Member Action

Material to be added is underlined. Material to be deleted is bracketed ().
