ISSUES OR IMAGES?
HOW TO BE AN AKAMAI VOTER IN '78
Our first general meeting of this League year will be held at the McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Park from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon on September 13. This will actually be a Voters' Service function, to inform the public how to sort out the images from the issues in choosing a candidate. We hope also to inspire those attending to join the League, though the latter goal must be played down since we are meeting on City property. Refreshments will be served on the patio--please do not take them into the auditorium.
We have a star-studded cast for our programs Lt. Governor Nelson Doi, who is 'also Chief Elections Officer for the State; A. A. Smyser, Editor of the Honolulu Star Bulletin; Bob Berger, owner of news radio station KHVH; and Patt Patterson, president of Patt Patterson & Associates, a public relations firm. Each will speak for three minutes, then Pat Shutt, our moderator, will ask from prepared questions. After their replies, there will be time for questions.
This promises to be a stimulating and informative program—please come and bring friends. You will be doing them, and yourself, a
favor.
