Annual Meeting: Women in Hawaii----How are we doing? Many of you have asked for information about "women's issues; such as the roles of men and women in our society, specific problems of women in employment, credit, family law, etc. Inspired by the new LWVEF publication, In Pursuit of Equal Rights: Women in the 70's; and by Gloria Steinem's speech here in Hawaii in February, the Board decided to give you an overview of what's happening here. Our speakers will be Rai St. Chu and Judith Gething. Rai is an attorney, formerly a public defender, now in private practice. She is especially interested in laws affecting women. Judy is a political scientist in the UH's American Studies program. She is an author of a soon-to-be released ACLU publication of the rights of women in Hawaii. As a requirement of incorporating the Honolulu league last fall, the membership must formally adopt the By-laws at the annual meeting. Copies of the current By-laws may be inspected in the league office and will be available at the annual meeting.
