Unicameralism and other Legislative Reforms From the President (Carol Whitesell) Earning Money for the League December Calendar League Finance Drive 1977 LWV Calendars Aloha to these New Members Open House |
From the PresidentLegislative Interviews or What Do You Say (to a legislator) After You Say Hello? It won’t be a problem if you're interviewing him/her for the League. The State Board has outlined three fascinating topics of conversation for local league members to discuss with State legislators in interviews during December and January. They deal with campaign finance, setting up the ConCon, and the public's role in collective bargaining. We will also ask for reactions to the recommendations of the Government Organization Commission. Where do we do Legislative Interviews ? Legislative interviews are used to make friends, introduce ourselves as interested assistants to the legislative .process, and find out where legislators stand on issues of interest to the League. The information gained from these interviews is invaluable in terms of later lobbying efforts. Who can do interviews? Every League member is encouraged to participate in legislative interviews, Two members always go together: one to ask the questions; the other to act as recorder. It's interesting and fun for both old and new members. A training session for legislative interviewers will be held at 9:30 am, Dec, 9th at the League office. If you can't make it, but would like to help, call Carol Whitesell or Jerry Hess. Carol Whitesell |
