From Our PresidentWe thank Mabel Kessling and Fran McLeod of the School Study Committee for presenting such a fine panel of speakers for the December meeting. Curriculum is a new phase for this study committee and we are fortunate to have another dimension presented for us. Also our thanks to the AAUW for their co-sponsorship and participation in this meeting. The Board is pleased to list the members of the budget committee:
Meetings will start in January to prepare a budget for Board approval in February and Membership approval in April at the Annual Meeting. If you have suggestions on program and service to make our League grow in the community please present your ideas to the above members. You will continue to receive ideas and information about our Voter Service opportunities and services. Please call Claudia Patil with your suggestions and offers of help. Don Golenpaul, Editor of the 1272 Information Please Almanac has an article entitled Can We Trust Politicians? He urges the readers to vote and in the closing paragraphs says "You can do much as individuals - by telephone, by chain letters, by house-to-house canvassing. We also suggest that you seek the cooperation of other groups such as the League of Women Voters and Common Cause --" A nice plug, but are we ready to prove our worth? We anticipate a lively evening in February when the Human Resources people conduct a General Meeting on Housing. Look for more details in the next Voter. This committee welcomes new members to its ranks and will appreciate your contributions as it works towards unit presentations in the spring. Please call Valarie Humphries or myself for further information on how you can contribute to this part of our program Dee Lum |
