Committee Update II - Study of CongressThis study item, adopted last May at the National convention, got its start in Honolulu in November after the elections. The six active members of the committee have used these first months to study the workings of Congress, with special attention to the role of political parties, seniority, the committee system, authorization and appropriation, and rules and procedures. This work culminated in the presentation of the committee's first units in early March. The study committee is now awaiting further direction from the National League. Preliminary indications are that there will be a national consensus called in the winter of 1972. Beverly Carter |
