Time for Action We have received a TIME FOR ACTION from the National office concerning the Foreign Assistance Act for 1967. We know you have read in your newspapers how this program has been subjected to the economy-minded congressmen's moderation. The House Appropriation Committee took after it with relish and when it reached the Senate for their approval the economic aid cuts were: a 14% cut in International Organizations - from the President's request for $141 million to $125 million. a 25% cut in Technical Assistance - from $242 million to $180 million. an almost 50% cut in Development Loans - from $774 million to $400 million. a 31% cut in Alliance for Progress - from $643 million to $445 million. These cuts spell THE END or at the least a serious reduction to some of the more effective aid programs. Please write our Senators -Daniel K. Inouye and Hiram L. Fong and express your concern. The Committee has answered the request from National and contacted other organizations in the community we thought might be interested. We are hoping you will help too. Virginia Bogard
