Report of the PresidentThe past year in the League, with its ups and downs, should give us many direction signals as we look to the future. First and foremost-- we must increase our membership. We are hamstrung at almost every turn because we lack someone to do the job. The response we just received in our Finance Drive is an indication that leaders in the community are interested in what the League of Women Voters represents. However, to do what we should be doing in the manner in which should be done requires more shoulders to the wheel. We are distressed that among our present membership there are not enough women willing to fill positions on the Board. We have a tremendous—and fascinating—job ahead of us in Voters Service activity and we hope every member will lend a hand. Many thanks to those who "carried on" and did extra work while we "changed horses in the middle of the stream" this past year. It has born a wonderful experience to serve as President. I feel confident we can achieve the potential that is ours in this community--let's try! Jeannine McCullagh |
