Useful Refuse Members of the Evening Unit suggested at the Jan., 1962 meeting that the League investigate the possibility of using sanitary landfill to reduce filling costs in the development of Kawainui Swamp. After League members surveyed the area and consulted the Dept. of Health as to the feasibility and advisability of using sanitary landfill at the site President Dr. Togasaki sent a letter to the City. In it the League recommended the use of sanitary landfill for Kawainui Swamp if it is to be developed in to a public park. This recommendation is in line with the League's 1961 more generalized "conclusions and recommendations" to the City in respect to refuse disposal. methods. Liesel Philipp, chrmn.
