A Social Note The League was invited to participate in a luncheon-seminar on adult education, sponsored by the University of Hawaii. Opal Sloane went as our representative and she reports: The purpose of this meeting was to promote communication between groups interested in education of adults. Several organizations were represented including the Y.W.C.A., Employer's Council, D.P.I., and churches. The speaker, Dr. Nicholson of University Teacher's College, several times mentioned the League of Women Voters as a group engaged in adult education. The two goals he emphasized were democracy and world peace. One reassuring comment: "Reaching a great number of people is perhaps not the most important thing. Reaching only a few, if they are leaders, can be important."
