Calendar of Events City-County Charter and the Legislature (Opal Sloane) Speak Now! Congressional Round-Up Air and Water Pollution / Foreign Policy U.N. Day -- October 24 Federal Government and Water

The City-County Charter and the Legislature Achieving a new and adequate charter for the city and county of Honolulu is one of our Continuing Responsibilities this year. Bills have been introduced in this legislative session which would effect changes in the charter as adopted. There is indication that these bills will not pass, but undoubtedly these or similar bills will be proposed at the next session. The Honolulu League has already been approached by one community group which feels that organizations interested in the charter should make their stand known. On October 21 Ruth Myers will chair a meeting to discuss our responsibility in this matter. (See Calendar of Events.) This is your chance to let the Board know how you feel and to give guidance for future--possibly emergency--action. Please come.
