The McCully Bridge, which should have been replaced many years ago, will finally take a bow. A new, six-lane structure providing wide turn-offs on to the Ala Wai Boulevard on a decking over the water is expected to replace the old bridge early in 1959. This plan allows for the future widening of the Boulevard. The new structure will cost the city about $400,000.

The Board of Supervisors have wanted this bridge replacement since 1934.
